I sent the following message out to my friends and family tonight:
Dear Friends,
Hard to believe three years have passed, and the horror of war is still with us in all its intensity. Tonight I cannot help but think of the thousands of families in America that have been ruined by this immoral war, and the tens of thousands of Iraqi families who have been touched by death. I feel powerless to stop this: writing letters, marching, praying… it all seems so futile. Still, I know that the majority of Americans now (belatedly) share my views, and once in a while a leader has the courage to come forward….
Think Progress has a timeline of the war that gives us a vivid reminder of all that has transpired in the last 36 months
"The war in Iraq is not going as advertised. It is a flawed policy wrapped in illusion. The American public is way ahead of us. The United States and coalition troops have done all they can in Iraq, but it is time for a change in direction. Our military is suffering. The future of our country is at risk. We can not continue on the present course. [Murtha, 11/17/05]"
