I have been at a conference in Cannes the past few days and have not been able to follow all of the unfolding developments in Berlin or Washington. I am encouraged by what I’ve heard about the progress of the Plame investigation and Karl Rove.
It appears that the announcement concerning a Grand Coalition will be made on Sunday. In today’s taz the Green Party leader Fritz Kuhn demands that the SPD give up any claim to the chancellorship
Die SPD muss einsehen: Die Schwerkraft kann man nicht aushebeln, indem man in die Luft springt und Hurra schreit. Die Union hat mehr Sitze im Bundestag, da kann sie den Anspruch auf die Kanzlerschaft stellen. Ein wochenlanges Theater um die Frage, ob man die Realität sieht oder ignoriert, ist nicht förderlich für den Abbau der Politikverdrossenheit. Die beiden großen Parteien sollen jetzt schauen, dass sie eine Koalition zustande kriegen. Im Moment stecken die ja in Sandkastenspielen personalpolitischer Art.
