Germans are spending on the average 58 minutes a day online, according to a new study released this week. Television is still the leading medium (178 minutes) followed by radio (151 minutes).  But the Internet is now twice as popular as print media. There are indications that Internet surfing is gradually displacing television viewing.

Heise Online furthermore reports that the amount Internet usage is very much influenced by access to high-speed connectivity.  Currently only 4.2 million German households have broadband, but this is expected to grow to 17 million by 2010.
