Geert Wilders took his "Keep the Fear Alive" roadshow to Berlin to show support for Rene Stadtkewitz and his flailing Die Freiheit Partei (Freedom Party).  Wilders spoke before an enthusisatic crowd of about 550 and was introduced by the founder of the hate blog Politically Incorrect

WIlders gave his usual pitch about how Europe is quickly becoming Islamicized due to the cowardice and political correctness of the "elite class", how Islam is incompatible with western values and is, after all, not even a religion but rather a totalitarian ideology.

In his speech, Wilders directly attacked German Chancellor Angela Merkel twice, accusing her of capitulating to Islam's growing presence and power in Germany:

(In spite of my tight schedule I felt it was important to come to Berlin since Germany also needs a political movement that defends German identity, which stands in opposition to the Islamacization of Germany.  Chancellor Angela Merke says that the Islamization of Germany is unavoidable. She has called on citizens to get ready for further changes due to immigration.  She wants people to adjust to the new conditions.  The Chairwoman of the CDU has said, "Mosques will be a bigger factor in our cities than ever before.")

(Are we doomed to repeat the mistakes of the Weimar Republic? Are we capitulating to Islam because our dedication to freedom is dead? No, that will never happen.  We are not like Mrs. Merkel. We don't accept that Islamization is unavoidable.  We must retain our freedom. )

In this one speech Wilders referred to two American presidents: Ronald Reagan and Theodore Rooselvelt.  Reagan for standing up to evils of communism (Islam = Communisim = Nazism) and Roosevelt for insisting that immigrants to the US adopt an "American identity" ("Präsident Theodore Roosevelt hatte eine klare Vorstellung von den Pflichten der Zuwanderer.") Actually, for Geert Wilders to evoke Teddy Roosevelt is probably appropriate, since TR was a notorious racist and eugenicist, who felt strongly that "inferior races" could never become true Americans.  He despised slavery, not because it was an abomination, but rather because it brought the black man to American soil: ""The presence of the negro is the real problem; slavery is merely the worst possible method of solving the problem" -=Theodore Roosevelt, The Winning of the West, Vol 3).

// Are we doomed to repeat the mistakes of the Weimar Republic? //
That’s funny —
// Earlier this week, Chancellor Angela Merkel said it was “regrettable” that a governing agreement was to be signed with the PVV.
Mr Wilders responded with a clear message – the German leader had “no right” to interfere with the internal affairs of another sovereign nation. //

The Chancellor did the right thing by refusing to remain silent as a right-wing extremist party gains political power on Germany’s border.
This apostle of hate must be challenged and condemned wherever he appears.

I think we should rather wait and see what comes out of this.
Be a little more patient 🙂
