An amazing development for Germanists everywhere: lost works of Bertolt Brecht have appeared in Brüttsellen Switzerland, according to Weltwoche. Brecht was forced to leave the United States in 1947 due to increasing harassment from the FBI and the McCarthy sympathizers, and spent 18 months in Switzerland before returning to East Berlin. Included in the previously unknown works are 15 “Keuner Stories” (Geschichten von Herrn Keuner) which Suhrkamp will publish in mid-September.
