HaHa! President Bush’s’ groping of Chancellor Merkel has caught the attention of bloggers in the US. One of the funniest blogs – Jesus’s General – has used the episode to create a campaign ad for Senator Joseph Lieberman.
The General is of course referring to the infamous kiss that President Bush planted on Joe’s lips, sealing Lieberman’s betrayal of the Democratic Party:
Lieberman has angered Democrats in Connecticut with his uncritical support of Bush’s Iraq War debacle. Earlier this year, Senator Lieberman displayed his impeccable Republican credentials with this quote: “It’s time for Democrats who distrust President Bush to acknowledge that he will be the commander in chief for three more critical years, and that in matters of war, we undermine presidential credibility at our nation’s peril.” Blind loyalty to the incompetent Leader: hallmark of the authoritarian personality and a core Republican value.
