The Bright Side of the Print Media Crisis

There is much handwringiing in the US about the demise of print media as it seems each week another newspaper files for bankrupcty or simply shuts down altogether.  The situation in Germany is not quite as dire, also here there is a general decline in circulation (Auflage deutscher Zeitungen weiter Rückläufig ).  But there is a positive side to the crisis: some of the really bad newspapers have ceased publication or are basically on life-support.  Thus the neo-con rag The Washington Times, the mouthpiece of its owner – cult leader Sun Myung Moon - ,has fired most of its executives, let go most of its reporters, and discontinued the sports section in a desperate move to stay afloat.  And in Germany, the mighty Bild-Zeitung, a reliable source of unreliable "news", has seen its circulation numbers decline precipitously, according to these figures published in Bildblog.
