On its corporate Web site, Bayer reports that it sold over $500 million worth of aspirin last year.  But sales could now surge after a billionaire supporter of GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum made the following statement:

A chief backer of Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum stunned viewers when he made an off-the-wall comment about birth control Thursday.

Foster Friess, the primary supporter of a pro-Santorum super political action committee, suggested on MSNBC that women use Bayer aspirin as a contraceptive.

“This contraceptive thing, my gosh, it’s so expensive,” he told host Andrea Mitchell.

“Back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly.”

Friess’ inference that women can place a pill between their legs to keep from spreading them understandably sent some heads spinning.

Santorum (and Bayer) got further support from right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh, who called a Georgetown University coed  (and by inference all women) a "slut" and "prostitute" for using birth control:

"I will buy all of the women at Georgetown University as much aspirin to put between their knees as they want,” Limbaugh said on Thursday’s show.

After this uproar, any self-respecting woman will want to keep a bottle of Bayer Aspirin in her purse, so as not be seen as a "slut" or prostitute.  Could Rush Limbaugh be on the payroll of Bayer AG?

I have never heard of this practice in my whole life. It means there is something wrong with Bayer aspirin. In the future I will not buy it, though I cant say I buy it now either.
I have heard that ladies should only cross their feet at the ankles though. for that you could just tie their feet together.
